Use "estar" for personal opinion in terms of taste of appearance I read a self-learning spanish book, it says that to say personal opinion in terms of taste of appearance we should use "estar" instead of "ser". For example; la comida esta buena, el pescado esta delicioso, etc. So these sentences indicate a personal opinion that the food is good and the fish is delicious. My question is, if i use "ser" in these sentences; la comida es buena, el pescado es delicioso.. So, in this case, what do they mean? The food is good in general?

The main thing here is to understand that in spanish we use those 2 forms with different intentions.. for example: La comida es buena: When we use ES it means that something is this way, always. La comida está buena: When we use ESTÁ it means that something is this way right now, but it could be different tomorrow for example... This apple is delicious = La manzana ES deliciosa (It means all apples are delicious always and it's something not changeable) This apple is delicious = La manzada ESTÁ deliciosa (It means the apple is delicious right now but in some hours it could be different)

Yo uso "estar" cuando expreso una opinión personal sobre "mi" gusto, y usaría "ser" si quiero decir que algo es así independientemente de mi opinión personal. Por ejemplo La comida en ese restaurante está muy buena (mi opinión) La comida en ese restaurante es muy buena (aunque realmente sea mi opinión, estoy tratando de decir que lo que afirmo es más general que mi opinión)

La comida es buena = The food is good. [ it is good for something] . Like for example : The kiwi is good - El kiwi es bueno. Comer Kiwi es bueno. Eating kiwi is good. It's like to determinate if something is good or not. Es o no es bueno? - Is it good or not? El pescado es bueno? - Is fish good?. Yes, It is. Si, el pescado es bueno. Dormir es bueno? - Sleeping is good?. Yes, It is. - Si, dormir es bueno. Another example: If you think someone is cute, lets say for example > "Kezia es bonita" , "Daniel es bonito". When you say "esta" you are giving your opinion about the state of something at that moment. for example, If you like the fish you are eating or seeing, you say "El pescado esta bueno" (The fish is good) La comida esta buena. (THe food is good). Este vino esta bueno. (This wine is good).

Estar - if you are referring to how it's prepared in or at this moment. "La comida está buenísima hoy." Ser - if you are referring to how it's prepared in general. "La comida siempre es buena cuando vengo acá."
