Yes... it's because you feel you are sharing the load... so your tears are something like "God, finally someone is here with me ... " even when people are always around you, a hug always makes you "release" emotions, specially if were trying to keep yourself together the whole time, if "super hug"comes... buaaaahhh !!! you are going to let it out (the crying) ^^ ps: there's nothing wrong with crying...
