Actually saying that a language is the best is not a fact. Its an opinion.Every native of a particular country that speaks a different language will say that his/he language is THE BEST language.Due to the fact that in many countries english is taught as the second language ,this gives english an edge over many other languages. As such persons tend to gravitate or they tend to be drawn to the english language. Many countries have English as their 1st language or dominant language. Most 1st world countries use english ans their dominant or 2nd dominant language.Because of this, other countries are compelled to learn or teach english inorder to communicate better to the world at large.Because 1st world countries have the majority say in world events, this becomes a must.As such many individuals will say that english is the dominat language.

No. The language is not deep enough. Try Hindi or Chinese (or another asian language). Those languages are significantly deeper.

While i speak English better than any other language, i do not think that it is neccessarily the best language to communicate in. I think that each language out there is unique and has its own advantages and pluses; I think that because i speak Russian and English. At times there are words in Russian that can express what i am thinking and speaking better than English, quotes that describe a situation, and so on. It goes the same way for English, sometimes it is better to say something then in Russian. So, I believe that it is that way with other languages as well.

I love the English language, and maybe now, also due to the diffusion of Internet it is the best choice; predominance of English (at least in Europe an USA) over French, is quite a recent fact from an historical prospective, so as History always offers quick changes, we might expect some other language to compete with English other this (maybe) predominant position. I hope the many languages in the world will stay and develop, even if in the future more and more people will happily share a common language, thus increasing their capacity to quarrel and dispute with good satisfaction, and if we or them will be lucky enough, even without weapons! A proposal to Mr. Dreyfus who asked this, and to the many writers and readers: please make sure you'll have some spare time on the evening (GMT) of Oct. 7 2025, to further discuss the matter over here. I'll bet 10000 ITC that many of us (like me) will need a Chinese interpreter -- don't forget your Italki password !
