you can put the verb in the negative by using 'not' or use never be in the present tense: am/is /are you add not to give negative be in the past tense: was/were you add not to give negative now or at present: i'mnot scared/ i'mnot afraid/i'm never scared of you. in the past: i wasn't afraid/ i wasn't scared/ i was never afraid when i was living with my family i hope i understood your question correctly

You really should know the past form of "to be". It's elementary!
