You can do it as well here on italki by clicking on the 'chat now' session to start a chat (voice or video) with an existing friend on your list.They have to be online in order for you to initiate a chat with them and they might not reply, if they are busy.

All you have to do is go to contacts. then add contact. You have to know their name or their skype name. Have you done that part yet?
