Report: What are the greatest threats to the environment in your country today?
Introduction The principal aim of this report is to provide a description about
the greatest threats to the environment in my country and how to prevent them. The
final section makes recommendations as to how the situation could be improved.
The following consists of (“the following” is singular & therefore needs to conjugated into the 3rd person — though just using the verb “be” on its own here isn’t wrong, ‘consists of’ sounds better & more natural to me) the main threats are described by Biological Diversity: air
pollution and deforestation. Air pollution According to World Health
Organisation (WHO) around 30 000 people died in Spain from air pollution in
2019. The main cause of pollution in urban areas, where most/the majority of people live, are
emissions from vehicles. However, in the manufacturing zones, coal and oil
thermoelectric plants, it is these sources that can reduce air quality. Danger
of Desertification The second threat that exists in my country is deforestation.
The main cause of this issue stems from a building/construction site because of
cutting down the trees. Every year urban areas increase, whereas the total area of Spanish forests
decreases. On the other hand, Spanish forests suffer from summer
fires every year. This means that Spain has a danger of desertification. Solution
Taking all the factors mentioned, I would recommend developing a plan to reduce the use of oil and diesel vehicles to avoid the air quality getting worse from the
current situation. And the second phase for improving the situation, as the most/more
viable solution is to develop the reforestation program to save the Spanish
forests.
