I made the comment in a previous answer that the use of English can change depending on which English speaking country you are in. Auuughh!! What? I know, right? As a Canadian, there is no difference or it's so small as to be unimportant. The main verb in a sentence can take another verb as an object. What matters is the form of the object. 1) Some verbs take a gerund as their object. 2) Some take the infinitive. 3) Others take both with A) no change in meaning and B) a change in meaning. There are no rules, so how do you know what to use? A) You can find a paper dictionary which should say "foll by inf, foll by ger or foll by both." b) Google search: "list verbs followed by the infinitive" etc. Cheers

I like reading= you enjoy the process of reading. Reading is your hobby. You don’t emphasise where you do it, when, what books do you read. I like to read= you’re talking about smth specific e.g. I like to read when I’m tired and I want to relax.

There are grammatical differences, as others have said, but both sentences have exactly the same meaning.

Las 2 son correctas. Pero la segunda que se llama "Gerund" no se puede usar con ciertos verbos como "want" por ejemplo... Siempre tienes que decir "I want TO DO something" usando el infinitivo. Gerund se usa todo el tiempo en el idioma.
