專業教師🌤️ Today’s Japanese Tip: What is いいてんき ?
In Japanese, いいてんき(ii tenki): good weather, means one thing: SUNNY.
Cloudy? Rainy? → てんきがわるい(tenki ga warui)
*For some reason, in Japanese, we don't say “わるいてんき (warui tenki)”.
Snow? → Just ゆき(yuki). Not “bad,” just… snow. ☃️
But here’s the interesting part:
In some countries, rain = “nice weather,” and in very hot places, sunny = “terrible weather.”
So remember:
In Japan, いいてんき = sunshine!
Your definition may vary depending on where you live… and how sweaty you get. 😅
