Hello! I'm Scott Gaines. I was born in the United States near Kansas City, Missouri. Now I live in Seattle, Washington. I love traveling, reading, and learning about other cultures and languages. I lived and taught in South Korea for 7 years, and I have also traveled to Iceland, Italy, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan. I love meeting people from all over the world, and I would love to meet you and learn more about you!

我的教學經歷

I have a Cambridge CELTA teaching certificate and a Master's Degree in Linguistics from UCLA. I have been teaching English for 15 years, including 6 years at Gyeongsang National University in Jinju, South Korea. I have also taught English for Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California. I am currently an adjunct professor of Linguistics at Santa Monica College. I have taught English to all age groups from children to adult professionals (including CEOs), and I have taught students from 15 countries.

我的課程內容與教學風格

My specialties are conversation practice, pronunciation / accent reduction, and grammar practice. My classes focus on conversation in a casual and relaxed setting. Most of the talking time will be yours. I will help you make more natural word choices and help you pronounce words more clearly. Your job is just to talk! If you have a specific topic or skill that you want to practice, I can design an individual program for your individual needs. Otherwise, we can just enjoy regular conversation. Please note: I do NOT currently teach test preparation for tests such as IELTS or TOEFL.
