Hello, I’m Jo, a native English community tutor from the UK, based just outside London.
I help adults who can already speak some English but want to feel more confident, natural and comfortable in real conversation.
My lessons are warm, informal and supportive. I want you to feel relaxed, listened to and able to speak without worrying about being judged. Please don’t be nervous. My job is to help you feel comfortable and enjoy using English.
Before teaching, I worked in mental health, and I’m very interested in psychology, self-development, books, culture, global issues, technology and everyday life. I love talking to people from around the world and learning about their experiences, ideas and cultures.
In our lessons, we can talk about your life, work, opinions, goals or any topic that interests you. Sometimes we may use an article, short video or discussion questions to give us something meaningful to explore.
I can gently correct your mistakes, suggest more natural phrases and help you express yourself more clearly. My aim is not just to help you “speak correctly,” but to help you sound more like yourself in English.
I studied Modern Languages at the University of Liverpool, so I understand how important confidence is when learning a language.
I recommend booking an initial 30-minute lesson so we can meet, chat and see if my style is right for you.

Jo is a very caring teacher. There are an infinite topics to talk about; culture, social, life style etc. etc.... You will not feel nervous talking to her. I recommend her to all students.
