Tammy is a very patient teacher! I really appreciate her gentle corrections when I make mistakes. She is also very well-versed in several textbook series. Within seconds, she can cite the specific lesson and even page number of a basic grammar point for my reference after class. 5 Stars for Tammy!

Tammy 先生 is THE BEST. After trialing several other teachers, it’s pretty obvious that she is different than the rest. She very clearly has teaching experience. She has great energy, and explains things well at an appropriate level of Japanese. She’s also very patient, and will wait for you to try and finish sentences (unlike several teachers I have had) so that you actually get a chance to speak Japanese. She’s also very understanding, so I never feel embarrassed when my Japanese is completely wrong. She is also great at conversation so you rarely get those awkward silent pauses. I feel very lucky to have found her!

I highly recommend Tammy as a Japanese tutor! She has a natural ability to meet you exactly where you are in your language journey, making her incredibly approachable and easy to talk with. Tammy creates a supportive environment by consistently offering praise and providing helpful feedback that makes it easy to understand and learn from mistakes without feeling discouraged. She uses the Genki textbook and builds thoughtfully on the content based on your individual goals and learning style. Once she gets a sense of your ability, she designs a personalized structure for each session that makes progress feel both steady and achievable. Tammy’s mix of warmth, encouragement, and clarity makes learning Japanese effective and also genuinely enjoyable.

My first lesson went really well! Even though I made many mistakes, Tammy was very patient and encouraging. I strongly recommend Tammy if you are looking to improve your Japanese writing and speaking!
