Hello there! My name is Romain, I'm 23. I come from Belgium and my native language is French. I also speak English, Dutch and Spanish.
I've been passionate about languages since 14 years old. I study English&Dutch literature and linguistics, as well as translation (master degree). Beside university, I also play the violin.
I have many hobbies and a high interest for everything that surrounds me. Here are a couple of these hobbies: Language learning, Violin/Opera, Journaling, ASMR, gaming, walking, composing watching animes...我的教學經歷
I generally adapt well to different types of students. I'd love to help you find the tools and resources that suit you best. I enjoy giving small challenges to help you build up your confidence.
If you ever feel lost or demotivated, I can help you set up a learning programme that aligns with your expectations.
My teaching experience:
I have worked as a secundary school teacher and both the institution and the pupils (12-17yo) have expressed their enthusiasm about my lessons. I have also given private classes in French, English and Dutch. 我的課程內容與教學風格
The course may be given in: French, English, Dutch or Spanish (I do understand Italian and German to some extend). /!\ Tell me you level beforehand AND if there are specific topics you want to look into.
Here's what you can expect during a lesson:
1. Introduction (video, image, game, text)
2. We go through the resource together
3. Vocabulary/Syntax/Grammar
4. Topic conversation
5. Exercises
6. Summary

教學經驗
2024 - 2025
English and Dutch teacherI was contacted by a school because they were interested by my profile, even as a student. I therefore accepted to become a fulltime teacher for 3 weeks until a certified teacher would be able to come back. It eventually ended up being a wonderful experience to me, the institution, as well as the students. I later got a job offer from this school, asking me if I would accept working as an official teacher. Seeing my students enjoy learning was beautiful.

Road emergencies operatorI was working as a Bilingual student (NDL/FR) operator. I would take care of insurance clients from Benelux when they'd have emergencies all across Europe. This required being bilingual in Dutch and French, but also necessitated more in order to communicate with foreign agencies (mostly English. This job required a lot of management, communication and organisation between insurances, institutions, foreign policies, client's rights...

Romain is the best! I wasn’t the best French student back in school, so I was pretty nervous about starting tutoring. Romain is warm, welcoming, and supportive, exactly the type of teacher I had been looking for. I didn't know what kind of lesson format I wanted at first, so I appreciated his flexibility in trying out different options together. My favorite ones so far have been free-flowing conversation, hearing about local culture and history, and presenting an article on a topic I know. Romain is adaptable and always tailors each lesson to my interests, which makes it easy to stay engaged.

Romain is so skilled at helping me discover the trickier aspects of translation and supporting me in finding ways to work with those tricky aspects. I find this work this working challenging and invigorating as it requires so much flexibility of mind as well as quite a bit of creativity! I'm excited to continue working with Romain and strengthening my translation skills.

Translation gets more and more enjoyable every day! Romain really models the deep thought process that goes into translation while also pointing out the realities, such as time constraints, that make it more challenging. Merci beaucoup, Romain!

Wow! I really enjoyed the introduction to translation Romain shared. It was informative and so interesting - I learned a lot and ended the class more inspired than ever to develop my skills in translation!
