Especializada en enseñar español a estudiantes de habla inglesa. Some of my passions include hiking, reading, writing, and gardening. I treasure spending quality time with family and friends, but I also enjoy solo travelling, which allows me to meet new people and experience great adventures. Languages play an important role in my life and bring me a lot of joy—one of the reasons I feel so fortunate to be a language teacher. I have been an English teacher for over 25 years. I started my career in language schools before becoming a freelance teacher. I now teach both one-to-one students and small groups, working with adults and children in person and online. I find teaching Spanish incredibly motivating. This is why I’m now developing this path alongside my English teaching. I believe my extensive experience teaching English gives me valuable insight into how English speakers learn, allowing me to better support them in learning Spanish effectively. Promoting students’ language output is at the heart of my lessons. I minimise teacher talking so that students can make the most of their class time by actively communicating, receiving corrections, and getting relevant feedback. My goal is to help students feel they are making progress in every class. The materials I use are tailored to each student’s needs, and I encourage self-learning whenever possible. Homework may include a text, a video, or a set of questions to reflect on, helping students reinforce what they’ve learned and continue practising outside of class.

Itziar is an amazing find on italki! She is a full-time teacher of languages (i.e., English and Spanish) and has considerable experience with teaching language to adults and children alike. She is incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and very encouraging. Her classes are fun and interesting and she is great about teaching commonly used Spanish expressions.
