Hello! I’m Lauri, a passionate and dedicated conversational English tutor with a knack for making learning both lively and engaging. Over the past three years, I’ve had the joy of helping students from diverse backgrounds gain confidence in their English speaking skills. My journey in teaching began after I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Baruch College, where I honed my ability to connect with people and communicate effectively. Currently, I embrace the digital nomad lifestyle, traveling while working remotely, which allows me the flexibility to invest quality time in my students. Whether you’re looking to improve your English for travel, work, or everyday conversations, I can relate to a wide variety of people and this ability to connect with my students draws out their full potential. I try to do a mix of activities in each lesson, focusing on different skills. So I will usually do one exercise on grammar, one exercise on vocabulary, and one or two exercises on a particular business skill like meetings, e-mails, presenting, telephoning, negotiations, small talk, etc. I also talk to you about your work week so I can give you feedback on your sentence structure and pronunciation, and simply to give you some speaking time.

The teacher is friendly and outgoing, however a few things bothered me. * she only sent me the link when I asked for it (she was the one who was supposed to do it, so I think she could have done it in advance) * she took 10 minutes to turn on her camera because she was in a park * she asked if she could leave her camera off because her cell phone wasn’t fully charged * she shared her screen and made me do exercises from ChatGPT in the last 10 minutes * she spoke too much about herself I think she’s nice but doesn’t take the job seriously since she was in a park using her cell phone. There were a lot of surrounding noises. I don’t think it’s an appropriate place for a lesson.
