I have 10 years experience (7 as a full time English teacher). I've worked at language schools and freelance depending on my circumstances.
My experience has mostly been teaching adults or mature teenagers.
Part of being a teacher is to test the students and choose exercises that are challenging. I want my students to learn something new every class.
As a teacher, I focus on conversations, questions, presentations, description, explanation, & debate. The goal is for my student to produce what they learn in a way that sounds natural.我的課程內容與教學風格
I use the whiteboard on italki as it helps so much with structure, grammar and examples.
I prefer my students have a goal. Short-term goals are better. Maybe you want to pass a test, get ready for a trip, prepare for full-time education and live in an English-speaking country. A motivated student means a motivated teacher.
A class could:
1) begin with specific grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and expand to other things and topics.
2) begin with a topic and then focus on gram/vocab/pronunciation.
Homework is good, but is the student's choice.
