Everything is organized and executed with real intention. It’s obvious she puts in far more preparation than most. Her materials and teaching flow show real experience and thoughtful design. Jhoy is an excellent Tagalog teacher. She is always prompt and prepared for the lesson. Her prepared PowerPoint slides keep each lesson structured and clear, and her calm, confident presence makes learning feel easy. She explains the language with solid academic clarity but also mixes in everyday phrases and insight on when to just use english or taglish. Highly recommended and looking forward to learning more.

It can be hard to find a “Good” teacher on italki - but I can honestly say Joy is a “Great” one. You can feel that she really cares about her students and she really encourages you to get the most out of each lesson. She is extremely patient, fun and open to changing things up if you feel it might help you. Try a lesson with Joy - you won’t regret it!

I thoroughly enjoyed my trial lesson with Jhoy. She is a consummate teacher who employs an adaptive and responsive pedagogy to engage the student. She was attentive to my communication needs as a heritage language learner.
