My name is Rakeb Debalkew. I am a 32 years old Ethiopian language enthusiast. I was born and raised here in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Amharic is my first language and my Native. I was raised in a democratic and free family that let me reflect my own color and identity. I see my parents and siblings in me, and they are the shiniest part of my identity. If any one asks me to answer the question "Who are you?" beyond my name, I would say that I am my family. I am all the wonderful teachers I had, all the friends I embarked on. I am confident, I am courageous, I am enthusiastic and I am bold and forward. There is not a single thing I regret and I love that about myself. I truly value what I have!
I was raised in a family of teachers, both my Father and Mother were teachers. Some say that teaching is in my blood. On the first two to three years of my life after graduating from university, the first profession I have embarked on was teaching Spoken English. I remember my first class, it should have been terrifying but genuinely speaking my first class seemed like my hundredth. I stepped in a took control of the class room that is filled with students that were twice my age. I think nothing can better explain what I am like as a teacher than this first class story. I believe that God has given me a golden talent on the are of teaching. It is my true ambition, it is what I am!
I intend on making my Amharic lessons as interactive as possible. But the beginning shall be a bit strict and ...我的教材

Language Teaching Experience - Vm ware computer and Language Center - 2020In Vm Ware language center, I have experienced an amazing level of connection and bond with my private and group class students. I took the lead on improving the interactive nature of the classrooms, setting lesson plans, preparing monthly events and the preparation and distribution of monthly newsletter with in the center. I especially worked with students that travel for business to other parts of the world and students that are up for interviews and upgrades at Ethiopian Aviation Academy.

Imagine your teachers being your colleagues. This was an amazing experience truly. I taught students ranging from 7 to 15 years old. It was just an amazing experience where I made sure that the students are well disciplined while learning English simultaneously. We had the words of the month that revolved around the moral of the month. We did stories, dramas and debates and it was so fruitful!

I was a very good student with an award winning final year project. I was always the first one to present things and I was a very interactive and confident student.

I have been in several projects with Instructors from all over the world expanding my understanding of international communication. I have been multi disciplinarily serving different aspects of the university and also had the pleasure of co-hosting a radio program. It was once again another amazing journey of my life.

Rakeb is an incredible teacher! I am Ethiopian born with intermediate speaking abilities, and have tried multiple tutors in the past ---- no one compares to Rakeb.
