My main focus is on making my students feel comfortable, relaxed, and build their self-confidence in speaking Swedish without fear of making mistakes. I was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. I have a background in engineering and programming. I also love creativity in all its forms. I like music, gardening, architecture, outdoors, interior design, DIY, chess, and many other things. What are your interests? I am always curious and can chat about anything.

As a teacher I am attentive, flexible and supportive. My focus is not only on helping you with the language itself with all that it entails, but to build your confidence, provide you with a safe and encouraging environment, and to help motivate you and find ways for you to use what you’ve learned. Every student is unique so depending on the students' needs I will adapt in how we proceed. But typically we will focus on conversation. I will help guide you along so that you can use your Swedish as much as possible. I will give you written or oral feedback whenever appropriate, without interrupting or robbing you of the opportunity to recall or try first yourself. I will also look for recurring patterns and help you pay attention to certain things and concepts that I believe are important for your development. If appropriate we will use different materials, such as short-stories, articles, text books and so on.我的教材

Joakim is an amazing teacher. If I’m flustered, he finds a way to help me get back on track. He individually tailors the lessons to my personal needs, and finds fun unique ways to help me practice phrases I’d learned the lesson before. He is really amazing.

This was my 10th lesson with Joakim and my confidence speaking Swedish has really increased. We talk about many topics and Joakim gives me space to think of I’ve forgotten words and corrects me in a supportive way. I look forward to continuing.

He is very nice and professional. Even remembered what we discussed 2 years ago (I had to pause the lessons for 2 years, but he remembered topics from then). Also, understanding Japanese culture is an extra plus for me as a Japanese person. Highly recommend him as a teacher!
