Hi! I’m Mai 😊 I’m a Japanese tutor with over 6 years of experience and more than 1,000 lessons taught. I teach practical Japanese for real life — from daily conversation and culture to visas, relocation, housing, job hunting, and ALT prep. Recently, one of my students came to Japan with the new digital nomad visa, so I can explain the process in detail if you’re interested.
I explain everything in English, so complete beginners are welcome! Many students started from zero and became conversational in a few months.
I’m also a drummer and a big Beatles fan 🥁. Even if you’re not into music, my lessons are for anyone who wants to learn natural Japanese and understand real life in Japan.我的教學經歷
I kicked off my teaching journey in 2010 by giving English lessons to Japanese learners.
In 2019, I had a wonderful experience teaching Japanese at a senior high school in Taiwan. After returning to Japan, I jumped into online teaching—and I’m still loving it today!
Now I connect with students from all over the world. I speak English and Chinese, so even complete beginners can feel comfortable in my lessons.
My lessons are unique: since language learning can sometimes feel tough, I like to teach through what my students enjoy. That’s why I create original materials with cute illustrations and tailor my approach to each learner’s interests.我的課程內容與教學風格
Since I specialize in teaching Japanese grammar through English, my lessons are ideal for:

⭐ Students who want a solid grammar foundation

⭐ Anyone interested in the Beatles or British rock 🎵
I use original, illustration-packed materials to make learning clear and engaging.
I also provide JLPT resources covering all levels (N5, N4, N3, N2 and N1).
After each lesson, I’ll send you a PDF of what we studied. If you’d like, I can also prepare homework tailored to your level.

It was great fun chatting about music with Mai-sensei. Really helpful too, and I loved hearing about her performances. What’s more, she has an excellent knowledge of grammar and gives plenty of explanations in English.

Because Mai-sensei is such a big Beatles fan, it was a lot of fun to try talking about Beatles stories in Japanese! Plus, she has a lot of experience performing, which makes the lessons even more fun!

Her lessons are super creative and fun. The best part is that I can join without feeling stressed. I usually get nervous, but she supports me in English, so I can relax. At the same time, she gives me lots of chances to practice speaking Japanese. Her original materials are super easy to understand.
