Hi! My name is Lucía and I'm from Colombia, a country in South America, and my native language is Spanish. I'm a responsible, charismatic, polite, kind and strong woman. I love reading about science fiction, history and sometimes romance. I also love music a lot! I love to teach but specially to learn, and I am a firm believer that people learn through conversation, so I'd like to consider myself a good listener. This is a great opportunity to get to know people from all around the world and their experiences, so I hope we can do that together! I have been tutoring people formally since 2017, and I like to bring real life scenarios to the conversation so you can understand even better what we're learning in class! My priority is that the students feel comfortable enough to make every question that pops up in their minds, so I like to create a safe space to explore that. I also know how hard it is to learn a new language if you're not surrounded by the culture that comes from speaking one, so I like to use different interactive and media materials to make learning more fun! My classes are dynamic, interactive and placing you in real scenarios where you can use the different skills of a language (speaking, listening, writing and reading) depending on the context. Lucia is a fantastic Spanish teacher and language partner! She is very personable, patient, and skilled with beginner language learners like me. Our sessions are almost completely conversational, which is perfect for my hands-on learning style, and are always fun and engaging! She is well-educated, and the variety of complex topics we cover really helps develop my vocabulary and my ability to construct sentences and thoughts. She corrects grammar, provides study material, and is highly punctual and reliable. I have personally noticed an improvement in my Spanish since our time together, and I continue to look forward to every lesson. I highly recommend Lucia for anyone learning Spanish, one of the best teachers I have met on Italki.

Lucía is an enthusiastic teacher and a great conversation partner. Her charisma, confidence, and passion for teaching were evident from the first lesson! She is intelligent and well-read, which enables her to converse on a wide range of topics. She also has a great sense of humor, which really makes the time fly during our conversations. Her corrections are timely and well-delivered, so that I never feel embarrassed about making mistakes. As an intermediate Spanish speaker I seldom choose to participate in structured activities with my tutors, but she piqued my interest by offering me materials that were specific to my interests. I am very happy to have met Lucía, and I look forward to spending a lot of time with her.

It was very interesting to talk with Lucía about all the different cities of Colombia. It appears Bogotá is the capital of the nation for many good reasons, even though the weather there may not be as nice as Medellin.
