Hi there! This is Helen Tian and glad to meet you here! I'm living in Tianjin now, a city nearby Beijing.
Since graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University, I have been working as a professional Chinese teacher for more than 9 years.
I'm more Specialized in teaching adults, especially total beginners.
I used to teach for classes in universities in Beijing for around 2 years, then switched to online lessons.
There was 3 years that I taught on italki as a full-time job, and I got quite famaliar with this website as well the way to interact with students online.
Later I joined an education company to produce teachimg materials for online Chinese classes.
From September 2020, I returned here and became a freelance teacher again.
In our class, we will follow a certain textbook and focus on appling the vocabulary and grammar in daily use, such as making conversations or explaining the situation that the expression could be used.
Also, I like sharing some interesting knowledge about the characters when learning new words, like what you see in my video.
Around 70% of my long-term students were total beginners when they came to me.我的教材

Another excellent lesson and i am happy to be able to see the improvements i am making with Helen's help - i find it really helpful to find my weaknesses as we work too, so i know exactly what to work on during my self-study, and i love that we can have a fun lesson but we stay on-task at the same time!

I love that Helen always encourages me to speak more Chinese. During class we follow a textbook but we also have conversations about different topics. She also incorporates new vocabulary. I enjoy her classes a lot and I always learn something new in each class. For those of you that also study writing, Helen knows a lot about characters and how they are formed and their meaning.
