I'm from Los Angeles, CA and I have 3 years of experience as an ESL Tutor and English conversation partner. I have worked with English learners from Japan, Korea, Germany, Vietnam, Turkey, India, Colombia, Brazil, China, Mexico and more!
I love learning about culture and history from all over the world (I majored in International Studies, of course) and I am passionate about learning languages myself. I'm trilingual in English, Spanish, and Arabic!
In my free time, I love to explore my city, hang out with my cat, read fiction and books about social science, and watch movies!我的教學經歷
As a conversation partner, I try to create a comfortable and relaxed environment for students to practice their conversation skills. I am a curious and conversational person! I’ll ask you a lot about yourself, and your interests and opinions. I expect you to share with me topics that you want to discuss or practice.
I use the General American Accent in my sessions and I speak very clearly for foreign learners. I can adjust based on my student's needs. I can detect common grammar and pronunciation issues, which are unique to speakers of different languages.
I can also speak faster and more casually for those who want to learn native speech and slang in my Los Angeles, California accent! 我的課程內容與教學風格
Many students have different goals in their target language, so I like to collaborate with students on conversation topics. While our sessions will primarily be conversation practice, we can sometimes pause to go over a grammar or pronunciation point that comes up a lot. I may introduce some materials like articles, videos, movies/books to discuss!
Most importantly, I know that students fear speaking the most out of all of the language skills due to shyness, lack of confidence, and a fear of making mistakes. I create an environment where learners feel safe and not judged, because the best learning comes from making mistakes and learning from them!

Aliyah is a great teacher, she is calm and patient and she keeps track of my progress. She selects the topic of our conversations based on my interests and helps me work on my weaknesses in English and improve them. On top of that, she is a wonderful and intelligent person, which makes our conversations both fruitful and joyful
