Hi! I’m Umi! I’ve lived in Tokyo my whole life. My friends say I’m friendly and full of energy! 😆 I majored in law at university, and my hobby is traveling!我的教學經歷
I’ve been involved in Japanese language education as a volunteer since I was in junior high school.
After entering university, I worked as a tutor in Japanese language classes for international students and also volunteered to teach Japanese at an orphanage in Cambodia.
Now, I work full-time as a Japanese teacher and have students from all over the world!
I offer both online and in-person lessons, and most of my students started as complete beginners and have reached conversational level.

Lessons are in English, so no Japanese is needed. I focus on basics like hiragana, grammar, and vocabulary to build a strong foundation. Classes are customized to your pace. You’ll get feedback after each lesson to help you review. If you’re unsure where to start, I’ll guide you with lessons, homework, and study tips. Feel free to message me anytime with questions. I also teach kids and offer lessons for intermediate and advanced learners, including conversation, debates, and listening practice.我的教材

I just had my trial lesson with Umi, and I am absolutely thrilled! From the very first moment, she created a welcoming and supportive environment that immediately calmed my nerves.
I mentioned beforehand that I was an absolute beginner, but Umi was so encouraging. She started with the basics but in a way that was engaging and practical.
Her teaching style is adaptive, fun, and very effective.
I left the lesson feeling extremely motivated and actually believing that I can learn Japanese.
