“I do good work, but I feel invisible to my American boss.”
“I’m upset with my child’s teacher, but don’t want to offend her.”
“I speak English, but don’t seem to connect with people.”
Do any of these thoughts feel familiar when interfacing with Americans, either in China or overseas?
When working in China, I learned that despite my fluency in spoken Chinese, I was often unable to understand the intentions behind Chinese communication. After many years of working to better comprehend Chinese communication and its underlying philosophies, I now help Chinese professionals and international students confidently navigate American communication norms through guided, real-life practice.
我的教學經歷
Drawing on years of experience in professional cross-cultural settings and English teaching, my coaching moves clients beyond functional English to real connection with their Western colleagues and peers.
- B.A., Dartmouth College (达特茅斯学院)
- Former English instructor at Renmin University of China (中国人民大学), teaching communication and academic writing to 700+ Chinese university students
- Studied at China University of Political Science and Law (中国政法大学) and worked at a Beijing law firm
- Practiced law in the United States, collaborating with colleagues across China, Japan, Korea, Germany, and the UK
我的課程內容與教學風格
My coaching programs integrate American communication norms with real-time practice, so clients learn what Americans expect and how to express themselves in actual conversations.
Each 50-minute private session combines:
• key communication concepts
• guided speaking practice
• role plays based on real situations
• personalized feedback
Clients don’t just learn about American communication - they practice it, build confidence, and develop strategies they can use at work, in social settings, and in difficult conversations.
The goal is not to change who you are, but to help your audience understand you as you intend - so they can respond the way you expect.
