Hi! I'm Knives, a friendly native English speaker from Hawaii with a passion for helping people learn new skills and communicate confidently. I'm currently planning an exciting move to Japan to study the language and culture. I'm a language learner too, so I totally get the challenges (and fun!) of picking up new skills.
I love chatting about travel, ancient history, cultures, science, fitness and whatever interests you. Teaching English online lets me connect with people worldwide while keeping things relaxed and enjoyable. As a teacher, I'm all about creating a supportive space where you can practice without pressure. I'm patient, easy-going, encouraging, and great at explaining things clearly, whether it's grammar, pronunciation, or casual expressions. I have a strong vocabulary and love sharing alternative words and phrases to help you sound more natural, professional, and confident—great for job interviews, work, or everyday conversations!

I really enjoyed my lesson with Knives. We had a great conversation, and I got a lot of speaking practice, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Knives listened to me very carefully and was genuinely engaged. He also shared his own thoughts in a very interesting way, so the lesson never felt boring or forced.
The whole session felt more like a friendly conversation than a formal lesson, which made it easy to relax and speak more freely.
Also, I was his very first student on italki, which felt especially cool and kind of an honor :)
