Hi! I’m Dr. Edwin—or just Eddy. I’m a PhD-qualified and TESOL-certified communication coach. I was born in Singapore, growing up with English as a first language alongside Chinese, Malay, Tamil, and our own Singlish. Multilingualism showed me how languages shape thinking and communication—and how this insight can make learning English faster, deeper, and more natural. I also lived in Australia, teaching Media and Communication at university level for over a decade.我的教學經歷
For 18+ years, I’ve helped learners from diverse backgrounds. I have published articles and run seminars on mindfulness and spirituality. I also bring experience designing wellbeing and communication workshops for schools and companies. My lessons are for teenage and adult learners who want to use English more effectively in academic, professional, and everyday communication.
I can help with conversation, presentations, academic prep, critical thinking, and personal expression. With my international background, I understand ESL challenges and cultural differences—you can think out loud and feel at ease with me.
We will use media, entertainment, and AI to spark ideas. For example, instead of giving predictable answers to typical interview questions, we might explore your “mountains, rivers, and deserts” to express your strengths, values, and challenges authentically.

Level 7 Diploma in TESOL - London Teacher Training College - 2023The TQUK Level 7 Diploma in TESOL is an advanced, Ofqual-regulated qualification (equivalent to Master’s level) designed for experienced English teachers. This 120-180 hour course focuses on advanced methodologies, language acquisition theories, and pedagogical practice, typically featuring modules on linguistics, classroom management, and a practical teaching component.

Communication CoachI have been working independently as an English communication coach since 2018. Some of my clients come from online tutoring platforms, some by word of mouth referral.

博士 - Cultural StudiesI researched into the development of mindfulness in the modern world -- this gives me the expertise to coach students to relate their English communication to ethical issues of personal growth, interpersonal relationships, and social engagement.

2007 - 2017
Lecturer and TutorI taught subjects in media and communication studies and sociology, with a focus on critical thinking and effective argumentation and presentation. I have taught diverse students from around the world, up to 14 different nationalities in one classroom. These were ESL students studying a bridging course to enter their undergraduate studies.
