I'm 20+ lessons in with Jackie-san and she continues to be able to provide everything I need from a Japanese tutor. Today, I asked to review some older material that I hadn't fully learned yet and was thinking of a good apology to give since I felt like I was wasting her time, but she just laughed and pulled up all the material from all of our past lessons that was all tagged and time stamped. I was able to pick out the past material I had questions on and she was able to review it with me with nothing, but kindness and patience. I was struggling a bit today and she didn't mind keeping at my pace. This is usual for her which is why I've been back as many times as I have. Look for my name in her review history. I've tried to comprehensively cover everything about her and her teaching style, but I honestly can't. How do I explain in a review that I can get an in depth explanation about anything I want to ask ever and not be made to feel bad for not mastering everything I've seen yet?

Just had my fifth lesson with Jackie-sensei. She is always very encouraging, professional and always in good spirits. Our sessions are really productive - we get a lot done and I feel like I learn faster than I expect. She always provides lots of examples and encourages me to ask lots of questions, even if it means interrupting her. She's also super comfortable with English which helps a lot when she's explaining things to me. Happy to have found a teacher like Jackie :)

I’ve just finished my fourth lesson with Jackie-sensei, and I’m really happy with how things have been going so far. I was a bit nervous when I started, but she quickly put me at ease. Our classes have always had a light, pressure-free atmosphere, which makes me feel safe and comfortable enough to study at my own pace. I’m a slow learner, and I struggle quite a lot when speaking (including in English, since I’m not a native speaker) so I really appreciate how patient and understanding she has been with me. I honestly can’t thank her enough for that. She’s also incredibly flexible and always takes the time to answer any questions I have. Even when I come to her with what might be considered unrealistic goals, she takes them seriously and actively tries to help me work towards them. :) I’m really looking forward to my next lessons and to continuing to improve with her! :)

Just finished another lesson with Jackie-san. I can't recommend her enough. Everyone reading this is learning Japanese outside of iTalki and that's where Jackie-san excels. Whenever I come across a new concept, I message her before a lesson and request to study it and she's never said "that's too difficult" she prepares whatever I've asked for. I feel like her classes are the equivalent of a college level course due to the entirety of material I get...and I message her a few hours before the lesson. :-) Whatever the outside material you're using is, if you have questions, want examples, something you don't understand, etc, she will help you. She's easy to speak with too and whenever needed, her corrections often include a quick tutorial if grammar is incorrect so I can write it down, too. She's like having a human cheat sheet that has all the Japanese answers. Take her trial if you haven't. You won't regret anything except not having done it sooner.

Jackie-sensei was able to adapt our lesson to my request at short notice again! We focussed on 〜んです/ 〜のだ. She explained clearly and then used it in our conversation practice later. Thank you Jackie!

It's my third lesson with Jackie-sensei and I think her teaching style is great for me so far. We do a lot of casual conversation so she corrects me if I say something incorrect, puts it into a document so that I can review it after, so that helps a lot! Thanks for the lesson as usual!
