Hi I’m Qi Yi. I’m an online Mandarin tutor here in Shanghai. I have been teaching on italki since beginning of 2017. I earned a bachelor's degree in German language and literature, and currently, I am doing my master's degree in linguistics and cognitive study at an Italian university.
I have a passion for language and culture exchange. I have met a lot of interesting people on italki, who are both my teachers and students. They motivate me to continue teaching here after I graduate and keep tutoring till today. I have worked for 3 years in an online travel agency after graduation. I've been tutoring online for over four years. My students think that I'm a communicative and humorous person who is very easy to talk with. I offer conversation lessons which can cover the topics you are interested in. Besides that, we can also read articles together. I think intensive reading is one of the most effective ways to command a language. I will teach you grammar and new expressions by reading and show you how to use you've learned in real-life scenario.

If you want, I can send you materials (mainly videos or reading articles) before the lesson, so that we can focus on them during our lessons. I will put the necessary corrections on a google sheet so that you can go over them after lessons.
If your Chinese level is above A2, I avoid speaking English so that you will have a complete immersion of Chinese. I will also teach you some new phrases which Chinese people are using every day. They are different from what you learned in textbooks, and will definitely make your Chinese sound more authentic and natural.
In a nutshell, My goal is to help you to build confidence in speaking Chinese. Let's have fun!我的教材
