Ciao! My name is Glenda and I'm Italian, from Rome. My number one passion is traveling and experiencing other cultures, that is why I spent most of my life living and working abroad, as well as taking frequent long trips to exotic places! I moved back to Rome three years ago and now my other passion is painting with acrylics and mixed media. In 2008 I left my career as an aeronautical engineer to focus on acting and teaching Italian. I never looked back as I constantly find extreme fulfillment and joy in leading a life aimed at expressing myself and helping others to express themselves too.

In 2002 I started teaching Italian to A1-A2 levels at the Language Centre of Queen Mary University of London until I started working as an aeronautical engineer for a few years. In 2008 I left my job in engineering to focus on teaching privately to individuals and groups. I taught Opera professionals during the years I lived in NYC. I gained a certification at City Lit in London and the DITALS Certification, a cultural title recognised worldwide, awarded by the “Università per Stranieri di Siena”. This certification is aimed at teaching, but not limited to, Opera professionals and Opera enthusiasts, since it focuses on the arcaic form of Italian used in Opera.

我的課程內容與教學風格

Although I follow a program based on each individual student's needs and interests, I am always collaborating with my students to find out what works best for them. In general, for those who are willing, I deliver the lessons entirely in Italian, unless it's a grammar lesson which requires essential, clear explanation. At the same time I do not tend to feed my students with answers but I elicit the answers from them and I lead them to discover the "rules". Sometimes people already know or remember much more than they think! I put particular emphasis on pronunciation since that, if accompanied by a strong grammar foundation, is the gate into entering clear and effective communication.

DITALS - Università per Stranieri di Siena - 2019DITALS is a cultural title awarded by the “Università per Stranieri di Siena” that certifies the possession of the theoretical and practical competences needed to fulfill the role of Teaching Italian to Foreigners. The preparation for the exam involved several hours of teaching in classrooms of various levels, from A1 to C2. This Certificate also allows me to teach Opera professionals and lovers, since it has a specific focus on the language of Opera and on phonetics.
