As I have been living in many countries, I have always worked as a private tutor to teach my foreign friends and contacts Chinese and at the same time, teaching my Chinese friends German or English. I am a very communicative, organised and open person, so I often encourage my students to keep practicing. Don't be afraid to make mistakes! Also, in my opinion, it is very important for me to know the needs of my students so that I can do my best to prepare materials, videos, documents before lessons to keep my students motivated!

As I have started to learn Spanish from knowing absolute nothing to C1 only with italki teachers, beside the language itself, I have also learned many different and great ways of teaching. Based on the needs of each student, we can practice conversation and talk about a topic you like or I will explain a specific grammar points to you. On the other hand, if the student prefers that I prepare a conversation class, I will look for videos, audios, pictures, text etc to help my students to reach their objectives.

今天是我上的第四堂課，我從零基礎開始學，現在看到一些對話句子，都能很有自信地拼出來及唸出來，雖然常常還是會唸錯，但老師都會很有耐心及鼓勵方式糾正我，然後繼續讓我嘗試唸出我還很陌生的句子，自然我對德語的一些拼音跟規則開始越來越熟悉。我很喜歡Marlena老師的教學方式，讓我對每堂課的學習都充滿期待。

Having mastered German as an adult, Marlena has a high degree of grammatical competence that the average native speaker may lack. With this advantageous perspective, Marlena can concisely answer questions regarding both how and why. Anecdotally, I feel much more confident using Konjuntiv II since our lesson on the topic. Also, the exercises she provided me with helped me solidify my knowledge on my own time. While many students may believe the optimal language tutor to be a native speaker, my experience learning German with Marlena has indicated the exact opposite.

Marlena is an incredible teacher. She is always on time and is kind and patient. I have learned more Chinese with her in the few classes I have taken, then in my school. If you are looking for a great Mandarin or German teacher I cannot recommend Marlena enough. Marlena meets and passes the standards of a great teacher. Whether you are a beginner, child, teen, or grown up it doesn't matter because with Marlena there is always much more for her to teach you and much more for you to learn every day.
