Hey there! I am a physicist with a passion for languages, cultures and linguistics. My native language is Finnish, but I also speak English and Japanese, and have recently begun studying Arabic. I have lived in Finland, the UK, and Japan. In addition to learning new languages, my hobbies include fantasy books & films, playing the piano, travelling and cycling. I am currently interested in teaching English, Finnish and Japanese. Having climbed the “mountain of fluency” in two foreign languages, I know exactly how hard and frustrating the journey can be, but I also know how rewarding and satisfying finally making it to the top is. To me, wrapping your head around a completely new way of thinking that often comes with achieving fluency in a language is one of the best feelings I know, and I want to share it with you. As someone with a strong background in science, my specialty is scientific communication and technical writing. I also think my experience in grappling with abstract scientific concepts has taught me to explain grammatical concepts and semantic nuances in a concise and easily understandable way. Whether it be Finnish, English or Japanese you are interested to learn, I would love to discuss any topic you find fascinating or challenging, and give you personalised tips to improve your language skills. Great first lesson! Ville was precise and engaging, and he's clearly put a *lot* of thought into how to teach Finnish (and in general, how to learn languages). I also really enjoyed his pronunciation tips: he knew exactly what I was doing wrong and had great suggestions for how to fix things. Very fun lesson and I'm excited to keep learning with him
