Hello! My name is Karol Kay. I tutor adults and high school students who hope to work or study in an English language country. I am committed to guiding English learners to pass TOEFL and other college entrance exams so that they can be successful applying to college.
I enjoy connecting with people and having good conversations about topics that interests us. Here are things I love just in case we have a common interest:
• I love nature, especially hiking in the woods.
• Meditation & yoga
• I enjoy deep conversations about emotions, spirituality, and personal growth.我的教學經歷
My interest in tutoring English came at a young age. When I was 19 years old, my first time on a plane was traveling to Japan to help at a camp for Japanese students to learn English. I had an amazing time there. (Maybe too much fun! The first time I was ever drunk was in a karaoke bar with my host mother!)
My background:
I am TEFL/TESOL/TESL certified through Oxford Seminars and TEFL Academy. I spent two years teaching in Gangwon-do, Korea through EPIK (English Program in Korea). I also privately tutor for the TOEFL and GRE tests.
My approach:
I encourage my students to write and speak as much as possible. I focus on helping my students to communicate their ideas.我的課程內容與教學風格
My conversation classes:
I prepare conversation topics ahead of time, but we can also talk about anything that you would like. Sometimes I will send short videos or articles ahead of time so that we can discuss those during the class.
My test prep classes:
When helping someone prepare for a test, I try to mimic the experience of the test. For instance, when preparing for a speaking test, I’ll set a timer so that the student can become more comfortable working under a time pressure. I also enjoy helping students review writing and speaking prompts for the TOEFL and GRE.
My trial class:
We will focus on getting to know each other, and I will learn about your long-term English goals.我的教材
