Yasuka is awesome!!! I was a complete beginner starting out with our lessons, and she's been a treasure. For about 4 months now we've been going through textbooks (Genki specifically), and occasionally stopping for any random clarifications or grammar questions I have along the way. I'm somebody who has a hard time learning unless I know the reason behind why something is said the way it is, so I always have a ton of questions to ask, and no matter what she's always very patient, very kind, and very helpful! She's very good at explaining -why- something is wrong (or right), and is very quick to bring up examples of a certain grammatical structure being used correctly and when you would use it in conversation/writing/email/etc. I would recommend anybody take lessons with her!! Side note: we also went through her "Japanese travel prep" document before I visited Tokyo and it was invaluable, if you're about to travel there and need to get the basics down it's a great way to learn them.

I’ve been working with Yasuka for a couple of months now and am feeling more confident in understanding and speaking Japanese everyday, the lessons have quickly become a highlight of my week. I am always impressed with her ability to foresee where I will have difficulties as a native English speaker and guide me through them. I highly recommend working with Yasuka if you wish to learn Japanese and have fun along the way.

It was a pleasure learning with Yasuka. She is calm and encouraging; as hard as the process is for a beginner like me, she makes it as easy as possible by providing examples, explanations and kindly correcting any errors I make. Highly recommended!

Yasuka? More like YASSSSSSSSuka! This phenomenal tutor is everything you could want in a tutor, and more. Equipped & certified to teach both Japanese AND English, she is exceptional at navigating a wide range of linguistic levels. Not only that, but she is already familiar with a wide variety of resources, and has even compiled HER OWN resources!!! I could not recommend her more highly. My only complaint is that her time zone results in me having my lessons at 10:00pm, which is definitely less than ideal. That being said, I've just booked another 5 lessons for 午後十時, so that should say something (I think I've finished 10 or so lessons so far). I could keep ranting, but I'll just recommend that you take a few lessons with her yourself--- 頑張って! Sincerely, a grateful Japanese language newbie. (ps: If you're going to japan, her knowledge-- along with her "[last minute trip to Japan travel guide]" is extremely helpful!!!)

Yasuka is a great teacher. She explains things clearly and concisely. Her answers are to the point, and she drives the pace of the lesson according to the level of the student. She is patient with beginners (such as myself), correcting me when I'm wrong in a firm but kind way.
