Hoi!
My name is Chris, a Dutch native. I'm 34 years old and I'm teaching Dutch (adults) on this platform.
I see myself as a fun and positive person. I care about making people around me feel comfortable and am very patient. Having these skills made me decide in early 2018 to switch careers and to become a teacher.
I am currently living in Mexico and have lived, besides the Netherlands, in Spain and Vietnam before.

I’ve been teaching for over 7 years and always try to make my students feel comfortable. I believe that when you feel relaxed, you speak more, make mistakes (which is great!), and learn faster. I enjoy adding some jokes and making lessons feel relaxed.
My classes are relaxed, but structured. I always take notes and will send a review after the class for you to have an overview as well.
Over the years, I’ve helped many students prepare for both the inburgeringsexamen and the staatsexamen in the Netherlands. So if you're studying for an exam, I’ll help you feel confident and ready.

MY LESSON APPROACH:
In our first lesson, we’ll create a personal plan based on your goals and learning style. Everyone learns differently, so I adapt to what works best for you.
A typical lesson includes a short warm-up, a quick review of earlier material (if needed), a focus on new grammar or vocabulary, followed by a mix of targeted exercises and free speaking practice.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
- Cancelling less than 24 hours before class: 50% of the lesson price is charged, as the time slot can no longer be booked by other students.
- Cancelling less than 3 hours before class: no rescheduling possible.我的教材

2018 - 2019
English teacherI worked at this language school as an English teacher, teaching children from 5 years old to adults. I’ve been teaching mostly communication classes, but also created and taught science and math classes. I’ve learned a lot during this period, such as: improving my class management skills, learning how to keep classes interesting, learning to interact with different kind of students, creating lesson plans, creating syllabuses for classes and helping with events.
2018 - 2018
Volunteering teacherI volunteered for this organization in one of their homestays in Ho Chi Minh City. Students ages varied between 16-30 years old and the (mostly conversational) classes took place in an informal environment.
2019 - 2020
Head English teacherI continued my teaching career at Hello English. This center taught me to be more professional and to become more all-round as a teacher. I gained experience in teaching big classes at a university, a high school and at the language center itself.
I also helped out by guiding TEFL students and giving speeches at junior high schools.
2020 - 2021
Online formal teacherI've worked for this platform since the beginning of 2020. I've worked with a certain program, gave it my own twist, and built up a network of private students. I've improved my ability to create a comfortable and productive learning environment.
