I was born and raised in Hong Kong, where my mother tongue is Cantonese. I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees from colleges in Hong Kong. Moreover, I am fluent in English and Mandarin.
I currently live in Hong Kong and in the Hong Kong timezone. I can assist with translation from English and Mandarin to Cantonese, as well as record scripts in Cantonese. Please feel free to message me if you need any help related to Cantonese.我的教學經歷
As a Cantonese teacher, I hope to help you confidently use this language in Cantonese-speaking regions and learn more about Hong Kong culture.
If you are new to Cantonese, I will assist you in building your first 200 vocabulary words, along with basic grammar. Next, we will focus on the pronunciation of tone 1 and tone 6 until you can distinguish them in listening exercises.
After that, we will read some materials and conduct the entire lesson in Cantonese, without using auxiliary languages like English or Mandarin.我的課程內容與教學風格
I will spend at least half an hour understanding your reasons for wanting to learn Cantonese and setting up specific goals for you. Additionally, please share why you chose my lessons, as there are many Cantonese teachers on the italki platform.
My lessons do not follow a strict structure. We can cover everything from traditional reading and writing to casual conversation, so all topics are welcome.我的教材

I had a great first lesson with Michael. We went through the sentences I prepared and he helped me get the chunks down so they were easier to remember. Michael is very kind and helpful and answered all my questions I had about the language and Hong Kong culture too. Looking forward to the next lesson!

Today we tailored our lesson to transportation and giving directions. In addition to vehicles, we also learned names of transportation-related vocabulary such as traffic lights and bus stop. I learned a lot and can envision putting into practice what I learned today.
