My name is Federica and I was born in Florence, Italy to an Italian father and a German mother. I was raised in a bilingual home and have lived abroad ever since finishing high school. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from San Diego State University and I'm currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Environmental Economics at Humboldt University in Berlin, where I moved in 2021. During my college degree, I worked as an academic tutor for about a year and a half. I primarily taught economics along with math and language skills to student athletes. I had a great time and certainly improved my teaching skills along the way. I believe I was able to learn just as much from my students as did they, through effective communication methods and personal interactions. My teaching style is directly related to the language proficiency of the student. If the student is a beginner or has limited to no knowledge of the language, I start from the foundations (sentence construction, verb usage, vocabulary) and work my way up (reading, writing and conversations). If, instead, the student is has an intermediate or advanced language domain, my learning style is heavily reliant on conversational practice. That said, I am very flexible and will adapt to the specific student’s needs and preferences.

I was very nervous before my lesson, because I hadn't spoken Italian in 5 years. However, Federica made me feel comfortable with my current level of speaking and encouraged me by giving me the vocabulary and grammar I needed to express myself. It was a fun lesson and I'll definitely book another one.
