Hello! My name is Joel MJ. I am a native French speaker from the Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa) and currently living in Cedar Falls, USA. I have over 6 years of teaching experience, specializing in preparing students for exams such as DELF, TCF, TEF, and TEFAQ, with a strong student success rate.
I offer customized, well-structured, and engaging lessons tailored to your goals and current level. I speak French, English, Spanish, and Chinese, which allows me to communicate effectively with learners from diverse backgrounds. My teaching focuses on practical exam strategies, speaking practice, and building strong language skills.
I am patient, supportive, and easy to talk to. I create a comfortable learning environment where students can practice confidently and make steady progress. I quickly adapt to each student’s learning style, pace, and needs.
For beginners, I provide carefully selected materials to help build a strong foundation in vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and communication. For exam preparation, I use real test formats and targeted exercises to improve performance. Conversation lessons are designed to develop fluency, confidence, and natural expression.

I had my first lesson with Joel for Lingala. He is very personable, so we had a very relaxed lesson, yet still effective, and I learned things I hadn't read about in the meager learning resources available that exist for Lingala in English. Of course as a native Lingala speaker, Joel helped me with my intonation and stress when pronouncing words, correcting me to help me achieve a more native sound (albeit I'm far from it now). I plan to continue my Lingala studies with Joel, who I believe can help me achieve my goals in the language.
