Outstanding. I chose Carolina because of how clearly she spoke in her video, making it easy for me to understand her. I also was impressed that she is a journalist. Carolina y yo estamos revisando una lista de los "verbos inteligentes," es decir, verbos que tienen diferentes significados en diferentes contextos. A lo largo de nuestro tiempo juntos, había períodos en los cuáles hemos profundizado las palabras intensamente, y esto es uno de los períodos. Me gusta mucho esta actividad, ella es experta como periodista y estudiante de muchos idiomas, y en realidad es una de mis actividades favoritas con ella. Y sí, he recomendado esta profesora excelente a varios otros estudiantes.

I often say similar things about my lessons with Carolina, because they're consistently true. She works me hard. I feel like my brain is getting a workout. We pick difficult material and it's slow going, but I'm learning steadily. I'm learning about the legal system in Colombia and the standards of evidence, and I'm not involved in police or legal work--these are simply topics that have caught my interest in looking at other aspects of Colombian social life. Wherever you are in your studies of Spanish, Carolina can take you higher, at whatever pace you're ready for.

This week, Carolina and I observe 6 years studying together. Recently we marked 250 lessons together. She is such an expert at explaining things and finding suitable resources that I sense I could continue studying with her for years and still keep learning--because she is constantly learning herself, not only with her native language, but 11 other languages at the same time. The best teacher is a lifelong student, and she exemplifies that perfectly.

Every single lesson with this wonderful teacher has been a special event for me, for almost 6 years now--even when I had difficulties, which happened several times. She was always patient, always believed that skills were possible for me, and consistently led me from difficulty and even impossibility to possibility. We are studying a list of "intelligent verbs" each of which has several meanings and uses, another way to deepen my understanding of Spanish. Thanks largely to Carolina, I am highly proficient in many areas of this language, use it professionally, and am emerging from the last great barrier to full mastery. Incredible, Carolina, YOU ARE INCREDIBLE!
