Hello, my name is Dario and I am from Naples (or Napoli) in Italy. I am a Translation student and an occasional language learner myself. For years I have worked as a volunteer teacher in different NGOs and international organizations, teaching Italian to non-natives coming from all sorts of backgrounds and from (almost) all over the world. I have dealt with absolute beginners struggling to learn the alphabet (sometimes even the Latin script), as well as with astoundingly advanced students that could speak almost better than me! I have a lot of experience in "breaking down" the language and organizing lessons and I am very passionate about helping others too. I try to be as flexible as possible and adapt to my students' needs. I really believe that motivation is key to learning a language (or anything at all probably). That is why I try to focus on what really interests my students and 'build' on that, whatever it may be – a topic, an objective in the language, a desire to visit a place. That way learning will not feel as something one 'has to' do with all its difficulties but as something one can hopefully enjoy while in the process, while learning things that are relevant to them. So yes, as a joke I that I believe that as in any kind of relationship listening to others and asking them what they wish for is a very good skill in teaching too! Dario's lessons are really engaging, talking about various subjects. He's challenging and encouraging. And he offers ideas how to study better on my own to increase vocabulary. And he's a nice guy!
