Hello, everyone! I currently live in Japan and have been teaching both Japanese and English for more than 7 years.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations. I was born in Japan, but moved to Peru where I lived for more than 15 years. I was raised in a multilingual environment, so I fluently speak Standard Japanese, Spanish and English. During my school years, I studied Korean, French, Mandarin, German, and more, and I have also studied in South Korea as an exchange student for one year. I love reading, learning languages (currently Swedish and Polish), and playing with my dog!

In my class, I will help you enhance your Japanese speaking skills through engaging discussions on various topics tailored to your needs. No matter your current level, I’m here to support you in improving your skills and boosting your confidence. If you’re a beginner, we’ll start with the basics of grammar and build from there, making learning enjoyable and effective.
***Please kindly note that I do not accept lesson requests for children under the age of 12.
***Cancellation policy: If a lesson is canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, rescheduling is not possible. If the student does not show up for any reason, no refund is given.我的教材

Watana-sensei is very good about helping me to expand my vocabulary and be more precise in my expressions. Her being fluent in English also helps when there is a particular phrasing I wish to convey with some nuance in Japanese.

When I started lessons with Watana-san, I couldn't understand any Japanese conversations. After a couple of months of (almost) weekly practice, I can now understand quite a bit. This is a testament to her patience & skill as a mentor. I'm very thankful to have learned a lot from her.

I have taken several lessons with Watana-sensei and have genuinely enjoyed all of them. Although I’m still at an upper beginner level, these sessions have been extremely helpful and can feel myself improving with every lesson. Watana-sensei is always patient and understanding, and always takes the time to provide thoughtful feedback at the end of each sessions, even when we run slightly over time.
