I'm Lotti, a certified German and English teacher from Dortmund, Germany 🇩🇪
I've lived and taught English and German in India, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Thailand, Guatemala, Mexico and in various European countries.
I have a passion for traveling, meeting new people and learning languages to connect with the world and the people in it.

I have been teaching learners in groups and one-on-one for more than 10 years in different settings.
I started teaching online in February 2020.
No matter if you are just after some casual conversation or if you are preparing for a C1-exam, I will make sure that you achieve your goals and improve your language skills. I can also help you with questions about life in Germany and support you in dealing with German bureaucracy.
I’m a patient and encouraging teacher. I will go over grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation with you as many times as you need and correct you when necessary so that you can improve quickly. 我的課程內容與教學風格
My lessons are all about you! We’ll focus on the areas you wish to improve in and have interesting, fun and engaging lessons. I can help you prepare for your German exam, work with a textbook or concentrate on conversation practice.
We will read and discuss articles to broaden your vocabulary and improve your pronunciation and will generally speak a lot so that you become more confident and comfortable with using German.
I can assign homework and provide further material for self-study.

English and German TeacherI taught English and German as a foreign language at a language school in Germany to teenagers and adults.
Most of the German lessons were in preparation for the B2 certificate in German.
2010 - 2012
English TutorI worked as an English tutor at my high school. I taught one-on-one and groups of up to six students aged 11 - 14.

Lotti is a really great teacher, and I enjoy my lessons with her very much. She is patient, funny, and easygoing, and speaks German slowly enough for me as a beginner to understand. I can recommend her to everyone who wants to improve German skills in a friendly and relaxed environment.

I was honestly really nervous about signing up for iTalki -- I was worried about being put continuously on the spot. But, working with Lotti has been wonderful! She never makes me feel dumb or like I should know better. (I had some bad high school language class experiences, which is why I developed this anxiety.) I especially liked when we reviewed grammar because I really need these reminders. Thank you for being such an excellent tutor, Lotti! I'll be back. :)

Lotti is a great teacher; prepared, fun, corrects but does not intimidate :). She also has a way of honing in on what I should be focusing on right now for grammer... I look forward to many further lesson!!

If you're new to German, then I cannot recommend Lotti more highly!
Almost a year ago I learned I would be going to Germany for a month. I arrived to my first lesson speaking barely more than "ein bisschen" (a bit) or "ich verstehe nicht" (I don't understand). I remember Lotti as patient and reassuring in that lesson and in every lesson that followed. I have found my German lessons to be fun, I have told and heard funny stories in German, and I have learned many things about the German language and Germany from Lotti. I am no longer nervous about having conversations in German! I'm looking forward to my trip because Lotti really helped improve my German.

Super clear and helpful tuition. I previously learned German in school and speak other Germanic languages, Lotti speaks a lot of German in our lessons, in a clear and understandable way which helps me remember/re-learn in a fun and efficient way. We are currently working through the Menschen books which gives a clear learning plan. Highly recommended.
