Moi! I'm Satu and I'm a language teacher from Finland, but now live in a small village in Switzerland. I have a lot of experience with self-studying in addition to having studied several languages in school and in university, so I know it's not easy to learn a new language. I do also have a plethora of other interests, including all kinds of games, cooking, and traveling, so I'm sure we have something in common! I love learning new things from my students as well :)

I am a qualified English and French teacher but I fell in love with teaching Finnish! I have several years of teaching experience in different settings. I've taught Finnish on Italki and in a company teaching Finnish to internationals hoping to move to Finland. Before that, I've also taught French in secondary school and English in vocational school in Finland.
When it comes to my teacher persona, I am a kind, patient open-minded person - not at all like your worst fear of a super-reserved, cold Finn. That said, I'm still a Finn! 我的課程內容與教學風格

Finnish teaching work experience - Finest Future Oy - 2022In addition to Italki, I have experience working in a Finnish teaching company (several contracts). Most recently, I taught 3 courses to adults, from level A1 to B1, for 10 months. In addition to teaching, my tasks included partiticpating in the creation of new curricula and teaching materials, grading homework and tests and leading evaluation discussions. I am a native speaker and a qualified language teacher.

This was my 15th or 16th lesson and the first one since coming back from a week long trip to Finland — when I first started lessons with Satu I had studied for just over a year but had very little confidence speaking. In just a few months, I've really grown that confidence through lessons with Satu, and I don't think it would have been possible without her help! The lessons are always interesting and varied, from basic conversations to very specific discussions about video game characters and mechanics!

I just can't get tired of conversational classes focused on some specific topics. Satu sends some tips and materials in advance, but you get so much practical every-day vocabulary after each lesson in addition to that! It's a very effective way to discover which words and expressions you lack in real communication.

Satu had multiple sessions with my 9 year old kid and everything has been wonderful and successful. She prepares for each lesson ahead of time and asks us what topics they could talk about during the next sessions which helps us prepare the mindset of our kid as well. She also provides notes that we can review after each lesson. She keeps my kid engaged in all of their sessions by talking about interesting stuff that helps my kid to practice more conversation purely in Finnish. Definitely recommended!
p.s, we have tried 2 other mentors and Satu is the best one according to my kid, and we do agree 😊

I cannot recommend the nörteille lessons enough! Satu is a great teacher, who always checks in with her students current needs and modifies her lessons accordingly. She takes notes and shares lots of helpful resources.
Right now, we are in the middle of a D&D campaign and although I didn't have any previous experience in playing, she is making it work. Satu is very creative, well prepared and puts a lot of love into her work. She makes studying a lot of fun and I always look forward to our next lesson!
