Γεια σας! I’m Sofia, a passionate Greek tutor and native speaker with a deep love for both modern and ancient Greek. Holding a BA and MA in Classics from Greece and abroad, I specialize in making Greek accessible and engaging—whether you’re chatting over coffee or deciphering Homer.

I have 9 years of experience in teaching modern and ancient Greek to children and adults of various levels, from absolute beginners to advanced students. In my lessons, we will practice all aspects of linguistic competence, namely writing, speaking, listening, and reading.
My goal while teaching is to maintain your enthusiasm and curiosity during this learning journey. I can guarantee that it’s going to be fun and that you will see results in the first months of our lessons.
But the most important thing for me is to make the lessons relevant to you and your interests.

• If you are a beginner, I will get you step-by-step on the path to fluency!
• If you are already an intermediate or advanced speaker, we can practice mostly speaking and writing.
• If your goal is to learn ancient Greek, I can construct lessons that are particular to your interests, and teach you the grammar and syntax of the language by focusing on either Classical, Byzantine or Biblical Greek.
• If your goal is to enhance your knowledge of Ancient Greek, I offer close-reading classes on any ancient writer of your choice.我的教材

I have been learning Ancient Greek for about 4 months with Sofia. She has been very helpful with my Exam preparation, and is currently helping me to revise all of my Greek in this book that my University has provided. Everytime I learn from her she makes it so much fun and makes me feel very comfortable which makes it more easier for me to improve my proficiency with my pronunciation and reading ability.
I recommend her to anyone who wants to learn Ancient Greek!

I’ve been doing lessons with Sofia since March 2024. Sofia is incredibly patient and caring while I’ve been learning Greek. Sofia and I have bonded over our Greek upbringings and had many laughs while storytelling. Sofia provides me with the necessary materials and resources in order to improve my Greek on a weekly basis. Sofia is a gem of a teacher! I am genuinely so excited to have lessons with her each week! I am speaking so much more Greek as a result. With many mistakes, of course, but always corrected with a smile! My goal is to banish my shyness in speaking and be able to speak more to my great aunt in Athens when we visit her for Easter holidays. Sofia is absolutely helping me with this!
