Rie-sensei always brings such a great energy to each lesson, and I cannot thank her enough for all of her help. Since I have been working with her, I have been able to pass the N2 exam, and feel more than confident and excited to be working towards the N1. She focuses greatly on practice and feedback, so each lesson feels more like a conversation than just a “class”. She is also incredibly adaptable based upon your weak points, and will give actionable advice (and more practice!) to approach those weak areas. While I have mostly worked with her for JLPT prep, her lessons have also improved my functional Japanese that has helped me in my everyday life. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone working towards a Japanese exam or similar goal, looking to improve their current Japanese, or even those just starting their journey!

As I'm sure many can relate, I've wanted and tried to study Japanese on my own for the past decade, memorizing hiragana and katakana only to give up once "live got too busy." Eventually, I decided to really commit by finding a tutor, and I was so blessed and lucky to meet Tanaka-sensei. I cannot stress enough how helpful her classes have been! She is great at accommodating my needs and planning classes to proceed at my pace. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs an experienced, intelligent teacher to gently guide them while still actually teaching you new things every class in a structured manner (as someone with ADHD, this part has been especially crucial haha). 저는 지난 10년 동안 혼자서 일본어를 독학하려고 했지만 매번 히라가나와 가타카나만 외우다가 삶이 바빠지면 계속 포기하는 것을 반복해왔어요. 결국 “아 이러다 진짜 일본어 못 배우겠다” 싶어서 아예 과외 선생님을 찾아 같이 공부하는 것을 선택했어요. 이 과정에 다나카 선생님을 만난 것은 정말 신의 한 수라고 봐도 될 것 같아요! 선생님은 제 레벨과 부족한 부분들에 맞춰 수업을 진행하셔서 기초를 단단하게 다진 뒤 새로운 것들을 빠르게 배울 수 있었어요. 저와 비슷한 상황인 학생들한테도 꼭!! 선생님을 추천드리고 싶네요!

Rie-san is such an amazing teacher, I am so grateful to have found her! She is so patient, is very encouraging and gives positive upbeat feedback. It's always exciting to start a new lesson, knowing she cares so much about my progress. Sometimes she has really cool hand-outs which are super helpful, and exercises to print out and do on my own time. I'm impressed with her understanding of English which makes it easier for me to learn the differences between Japanese and English. I love her sense of humor, because I want my lessons to be fun, and she brings joy to every lesson.

Rie-sensei is a great teacher. I have an interview for an university next week. I have never done that in Japan but she greatly helped me with a lot of materials, examples and explanations. I'm definitely going to schedule another lesson. Thank you very much!

Thank you for today's lesson Rie sensei. I learned new words and new phrases I haven't been taught before. I shall keep studying Japanese with any available materials in hopes that I can really know these words and phrases, so that I can speak them naturally.
