I am a brand new student of Arabic! I wanted to familiarize with the language before my first-ever trip to Egypt as a tourist, and Mai's profile said she can help with exactly that (as well as being an experienced teacher of Arabic for foreigners). She had a knack for noticing my interests, and creating fun, practical lessons around them on the fly. Mai's method was easy to follow and she provided notes and materials for me print out and practice with. We even explored some basic grammar, which I loved, because Arabic is fascinatingly different than other languages I've studied. I especially noticed and appreciated the way Mai enjoyed seeing me learn! My trip starts in a week, and after just 6 classes I went from zero knowledge to having the small but practical vocabulary I wanted.
