My name is Svala, and I’m a native Icelandic speaker. I grew up in Akureyri on the northeast coast of Iceland, but as an adult I’ve lived in Reykjavík, Canada, and currently in the United States. My hobbies include books, movies and TV shows, cooking, salsa dancing, travelling, and of course languages (I may or may not have done hundreds of pages of Spanish grammar exercises so far during the pandemic).
Ég heiti Svala og hef íslensku að móðurmáli. Ég ólst upp á Akureyri en á fullorðinsárum hef ég búið í Reykjavík, Kanada og eins og er bý ég í Bandaríkjunum. Áhugamál mín eru m.a. bækur, kvikmyndir og sjónvarpsþættir, matargerð, salsa, ferðalög og auðvitað tungumál!我的教學經歷
I have been teaching Icelandic students of all levels here on italki since October 2020, and I am also currently teaching a diplomat every day who has to learn Icelandic from A1 to C1 in 8 months! I am actually a licensed Latin teacher at the secondary level in Iceland with an MA in Classics, a BA in German and Latin, and a diploma in teaching foreign languages at the upper secondary level. I have worked as a translator from English into Icelandic and taught/TA’ed university courses in Classics.我的課程內容與教學風格
My lessons will be adapted to your proficiency level, learning style, and your goals with learning . The lessons will be interactive so that you can start using the language in a meaningful way soon. We can integrate reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, while building your vocabulary and knowledge of grammar.
I’m a positive and patient teacher, and I’d like to foster a laid-back learning atmosphere where students feel comfortable trying new things and making mistakes – that’s how we learn.5.0
