I'm Barb, a Brazilian Portuguese teacher, law student and currently living in the southern region of the country. I love traveling, practicing martial arts and playing the guitar. I also love being in contact with nature, learning new languages and challenging myself whenever possible. I've been teaching online language classes since 2020, specifically for people who already speak the basics of the target language. I've been teaching online language classes since 2020, specifically for people who already speak the basics of the target language. My students are mostly adults and generally able to speak my native language. My intention as a tutor is to help those who wish to improve their skills in the Portuguese language, exclusively those from the level A2 onwards. I have been teaching online for over 2 years now and just like you, I am a language learner, so don't be afraid to make mistakes. Say hi and let’s get to know each other!

Mainly focused on conversation, my teaching style is flexible and welcoming and I make a point of seeing my students learn something new with each lesson completed. I like to prepare my classes according to each student's learning objectives. I also provide support in other areas such as reading, translation and writing. Bárbara is a nice person who can engage with you in a natural conversation in Portuguese. However, I did not feel like she was prepared for the lesson or adjusted it for my foundational level. She arrived late for the lesson, and also had internet issues. Despite this, she ended the lesson a few minutes before our allotted time, and seemed to run out of ideas for maintaining the conversation, and instead just finished early. I think she represents reasonable value if you are looking to practice an authentic Portuguese conversation (and have the ability to do so), but for someone like me, starting from the beginning, it was not a good fit unfortunately. I was given no lesson notes or homework, or any real feedback that I could take with me.
