Today was my first lesson with たくや先生, hoping to mainly focus on improving my speaking skills. I’ve used italki before for conversation practice when learning other languages, and those lessons were usually mostly free talk with a set theme. What really stood out to me was how much preparation this teacher had put into his lessons. He had prepared a wide range of structured materials, topics, content, and different ways to practise speaking, so the whole lesson felt very well structured and easy to follow. I believe it could make a tremendous difference in making progress when it comes to developing productive language skills. I found this much more helpful than simply having a casual conversation, because I could practise speaking in a more focused and meaningful way. He also took detailed notes during the lesson and will provide a PDF afterwards, which I think will be very useful for reviewing what we covered. I’m really looking forward to continuing my learning journey with たくや先生

I've had a few lessons with Takuya San at this point, and I can confidently say he's a great teacher! For me personally, as a beginner, I really struggle with listening comprehension. I think the fact that Takuya uses direct method of teaching is really forcing me to listen carefully and kind of "switch my brain" if that makes sense. In addition, I'm always surprised by how quickly the time passes. I think this is because there are so many activities packed into each lesson. It all feels very dynamic and engaging. In addition, he has a very positive and patient spirit, so you feel at ease and comfortable making mistakes. Finally, I wanted to add that his schedule is super packed with classes yet somehow, he always comes to class very prepared. I really appreciate him as a teacher and would highly recommend him, even for someone who is a beginner like me!

タクヤ先生、いつもありがとうございます！ 先生とは長い間レッスンを受けていますが、毎回本当に楽しく勉強できます。文法や単語だけでなく、日本の文化や自然な話し方まで丁寧に教えてくれるので、とても勉強になります。 今は一緒に『メモリーズオフ』の小説を読んでいますが、先生が登場人物になりきって読んでくれるので、まるで物語の世界に入ったような気持ちになります。普通の読書では味わえない、とても楽しいレッスンです。 質問もしやすく、分からないところは何度でも分かりやすく説明してくれるので、安心して勉強できます。日本語を楽しく続けたい人に心からおすすめできる先生です。 いつも素敵なレッスンをありがとうございます！

The class was very well structured and on-point. Most of the lesson time was dedicated to giving me opportunities to speak, followed by concise feedback from the teacher. This back-and-forth speaking format is extremely helpful for improving conversational Japanese, as it allows me to learn how native speakers naturally express themselves and pick up useful sentence structures that I can apply in future conversations.

I’ve been taking lessons with Takuya Sensei for three years, and we recently reached over 400 lessons together. Looking back, Japanese has gradually become a part of my everyday life, and I’m really grateful for all the time and effort he has put into teaching me. Recently, we finally finished reading an entire Japanese novel together. It wasn’t an easy book for me, but he patiently explained difficult vocabulary, expressions, and parts of the story, while also encouraging me to think and express my own ideas in Japanese. Finishing the whole novel together felt like a real accomplishment and became a very special memory for me. Thank you, Takuya Sensei, for always being patient with me, for all the conversations and laughs, and especially for spending so much time reading this novel with me. I truly appreciate everything you’ve taught me over these years. 😊📖✨
