Moi! I’m a native Finnish teacher from Helsinki, currently living in Japan. I speak Finnish, Japanese, English, and Swedish. I've always had a passion for languages, both teaching and learning! I majored Japanese language and culture in university, and after graduating I continued my studies in Japan. I have experienced many different learning techniques, and I’m not shy to say that I’m a slow learner. Practice makes perfect! Teaching Finnish in Japan creates a sense of connection between my life in Japan and my home country, and I want to share Finnish culture with my students. Celebrating the Finnish holidays in Japan is important for me! I have experience teaching Japanese students both online and face-to-face, working with individuals as well as groups of up to 11 students in private language schools. I always tailor my lessons according to my students’ needs and interests, whether you are preparing for school, work or an exam, learning for travel, or simply studying for everyday communication. Note: I do not have particular experience in teaching children. Let me know in advance if there are any topics you want to talk about, or any phrases or grammar points you'd like me to cover and I’ll prepare accordingly. 私は日本語を学ぶため様々な勉強方法を経験した事があるが、やはりたくさん話すのが一番になります！ レッスンではより多くのフィンランド語を聞いて話してほしいので、説明は両方フィンランド語と日本語でします。もしレッスンで使いたい書類、勉強したい文法やトピックの希望があれば、レッスンの前に教えてください。

Maija is a wonderful teacher. We only had one lesson, but she prepared a lot and furthermore she gave me some task beforehand, so the lesson was structured, even though it was the 1st our meeting. If you are looking for qualified teacher who is passionate about languages, she is the one you are looking for😃 Looking forward for the next lesson!
