Hi! My name is Kathy and I am from Los Angeles, California. I have lived in California for most of my life but decided to start traveling around the world once I graduated from university. Since then, I have lived in Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Mexico. And while living in those countries, I was able to travel to many other countries. I love experiencing different cultures, food, and languages. But my favorite part of traveling is talking to people and hearing their stories. So let's have a chat and get to know each other!

我的教學經歷

I have taught English in Japan for 4 years and have also been a student of Japanese before. I try to be a teacher that can be creative in class because I think that makes the subject more interesting. I like to talk about interesting things to help engage students more. We can talk about anything you're interested and comfortable with because I believe this will make our conversation flow more naturally. This will also be a good way for us to get to know each other better and will make future lessons together even more enjoyable!

My goal is to be a friend to you. I would like to create an environment where we can have a normal conversation together, as friends would! My mission as your teacher is to allow you to speak as much as possible so you can practice forming your own sentences and ideas. And I will help support you by conversing back and helping with possible grammatical mistakes or help with pronunciation. As someone who has experience learning multiple languages, I understand the difficulty in learning a new language. I promise to be patient, supportive, and encouraging while you're on your journey to improve your English!

아이토키 유목민으로 살아오다가 이제 여기에 정착했습니다. 의무교육도 받고 이후 영어에 대한 고민 때문에 학원도 다니고 공부하고 했지만 막상 말로 하려고 하면 영어가 안나오는 그런 한국인들 모이세요. Kathy를 매우 강력히 추천합니다. 그럴 땐 일단 영어를 뱉고 봐야하지만 내가 맞는 말을 하고 있는지, 상대방이 알아들을지, 상대방이 이상하게 보면 어떻하지라는 고민 때문에 영어 한마디 못할 때, Kathy를 만나보세요. 엉터리 영어를 뱉어도 인내심 있게 기다려주고 바로 바로 교정해주지 않기 때문에 위축되지 않고 엉터리 영어를 계속 말할 수 있게 됩니다. 근데 그게 시작인 것 같습니다. 그렇게 엉터리 영어를 하다보면 전보다는 조금 더 쉽게 영어를 말하게 되고 영어가 편해집니다. 그러다보면 느리게 느리게 내가 말할 수 있는 표현이 하나씩 늘어납니다. 일단 한 번 Kathy와 수업 해보세요. 귯귯.

I am so happy I found Kathy here on italki, you should have lessons with her. She is an incredible teacher, I have enjoyed my classes with her, she is also very patient to help me correct my pronunciation.
